Kanu, Ladipo for USA boxing convention

PRESIDENT of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), Dr Godwin Kanu and President General of the Nigerian Football and other Sports Supporters Club, Dr Rafiu Ladipo are members of the country's delegation to the 49th World Boxing Convention in Las Vegas, the United States of America.The delegation includes three boxing referees; Lateef Muis, Folunrinsho Jacob, Victor John, as well as the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Raji Fashola on grassroots sports development, Prince Wale Olagunjoye.The Nigeria's delegation is expected to present the case of Nigerian-born Super Lightweight WBC mandatory challenger, Segun Ajose during the convention.The congress is expected to draw boxing legends such as George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ken Northon, Tony Hearns, Marvellous Marvin Hagler, Oscar De La Hoya, Roy John Jnr and Azuma Nelson of Ghana.Tribunesports gathered that the World Boxing Council after considering Ajose's case, has mandated Eric Morales to defend his title against the Nigerian Olympian on March 2012, 90 days after his title defence in January, 2012.It will be recalled that Ajose triumphed over Ali Chabah in his last bout decided about three months ago.
