David Beckham Reveals Fergie Made Him Shave off His Mohawk in Wembley Toilets

Published by Bleacher Report on Thu, 26 Feb 2015

David Beckham has had some iconic hairstyles in the past with his "mohawk" circa 2000 perhaps the most memorable of the lot.The former England captain always liked to change his style from time to time, but when it came to the mohawk, it was somebody else who decided that it had to go.Beckham told The Graham Norton Show, in an episode to be broadcast on Friday night, that his manager at Manchester United, the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, demanded he shave off the do.What's more, Fergie made the request just one hour before Manchester United were due to play Chelsea in the Charity Shield, forcing Beckham to do the deed in the Wembley toilets.Beckham said, per Jacob Murtagh of the Daily Mirror:I was in the dressing room with an hour to go before kick off when Sir Alex Ferguson saw it and made me shave it off.I said no at first and then I saw his face change very quickly so I went and shaved it off in the toilet. He was very strict. It was the reputation of the club, he wanted all the players to look professional and he felt it wasnt the right look. We were playing at Wembley too, so he kind of had a point!Beckham also said that he regretted some of his haristyles. "Some of them have been really bad," he said. "I hadnt thought them through."[Daily Mirror]
