Idahosa Varsity, Western Delta Clear Athletics Medals

ATHLETES from Bishop Idahosa University (BIU) and Western Delta University (WDU) were the track stars as they carted home medals in the athletics event of the 4th edition of the Nigeria Private Universities Games, tagged 'OGHARA 2011.'In a competitive event watched by a near capacity crowd, Benson Idahosa University picked the gold in the men 100m race, just as the host, Western Delta University, picked the gold in the women 100m race.The host also won the gold in the 4X100m relay for men and women, while Benson Idahosa emerged winner in the men 800m event. The host institution also won the female version. In the 5,000 m race, Wesley University grabbed the gold.As at the time of this report, Benson Idahosa was leading with eight gold, seven silver and two bronze medals, while the host, Western Delta was second with six gold, five silver and four bronze medals.Crescent University occupied the third position with two gold and seven bronze medals, just as Igbinedion University, Okada, was in the fourth place with one gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Wesley University was in fifth place with had one gold, one silver and one bronze.
