Ibru Was A Servant Leader, Says Okoh

Published by Guardian on Sun, 18 Dec 2011

THE Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria, the Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh said the Trinity Foundation was the vehicle the late Alex Ibru used to reach out to the need through Spirituality, Health and Education ' the three pillars of the Foundation. He said a servant leader is the one who understands what God wants us to do at levels of governance and who would not lord it over the people. He told the large congregation that Dr. Ibru was a servant leader, who should be emulated, as 'we need people with that kind of robust mind, people who understand what God wants us to do for the people at all levels and as a leader being the servant like Jesus Christ.'The cleric urged the living and the mourners to be interested in life after life. His words: 'Whenever death strikes, it is a rare opportunity to think soberly about our relationship with God. In Jesus' life, death has become a gateway into a fuller life and eternity with God without hunger, and other earthly pursuits.'But there comes a time when man has to commit himself to the judgment of God.'The head of the Anglican, who also preached at the Friday Service of Songs at Agbara-Otor, said one trait that marked the life and times of Ibru was his passion for excellence.'Dr. Alex was a man who was dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, which can be summarised to the word 'impeccable'.The Primate, who preached at the Ughelli Cathedral yesterday, urged prayers for the Ibru family, the Trinity Foundation and 'The Guardian' without Dr. Alex Ibru.He preached on 'servant leader' and described the late publisher as a servant leader, who once described himself as a God's treasurer. The cleric urged people to touch lives as Ibru did through the Trinity Foundation.
