Sack NFF Technical Committee now - Tijani Yusuf

Published by Tribune on Mon, 19 Dec 2011

FORMER Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Dr Tijani Yusuf, has declared that the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has failed the nation and should be sent packing forthwith.Yusuf said in a Lagos based radio station that there was no moral justification for the committee headed by Barrister Chris Green, to continue in office given the calamity that has befallen Nigerian football in recent times."The technical Committee should be overhauled, I'm sure the NFF board can do that. In developed countries, when people have failed, without telling them, they will resign honourably and they still command respect because they know that in future, they can come back. It is not so in Nigeria, it's a pity."That is why Nigerians are telling them (members of the committee) to leave now," Yusuf said.He further advised that for Nigerian football to regain its lost glory, "we have to be more serious and pro-active. I mean with the calibre of people we have in the committee like Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, I expect something different."To be sincere, a lot of people are disppointed in the technical committee and I'm one of them. Football requires a sound technical back up and we must tell ourselves the truth that this technical committee has failed in the discharge of its responsibility".It will be recalled that Nigeria missed the Nations Cup ticket for the first time since 1986, while the nation's Men and Women's soccer teams also lost the tickets to the London 2012 Olympics.
