Resign from Ajimobi's govt now

Published by Tribune on Mon, 19 Dec 2011

The Minister ofState for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Jumoke Akinjide, has asked former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who worked against the interest of the party in the April elections and are now holding political appointments in the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to resign from their appointments.Chief Akinjide stated this, at the weekend, while addressing PDP members from Ibadan/Ibarapa areas of the state as well as members of the party that had just returned from the holy pilgrimage to Mecca and Jerusalem, at a meeting at Aperin, Ibadan. The minister also stressed that the only way by which the returning PDP leaders could prove that they were ready and sincere with the ongoing reconciliation in Oyo PDP in Oyo State was for them to withdraw their nominees from the Ajimobi-led administration. She stated that the PDP leaders that worked for ACN during the last general election had learnt their lessons and were now showing remorse. She emphasised that in as much as PDP leaders in Oyo State were ready to welcome back the returnees, despite working against the party during the last election, a situation where their nominees would be hobnobbing with the ACN administration in the state was unacceptable and against the spirit of true reconciliation.'If they are ready and want to be sincere with the ongoing reconciliation, they should ask all their nominees presently holding political offices under the Action Congress of Nigeria administration in this state to resign and have their resignation widely published by the press, then they can all come and join us,'' she said.According to her, 'the people are getting tired of the ACN administration in the state, having realised that it has nothing good to offer the state. The present administration in Oyo State will soon go. We borrowed them the administration they are presently running and we are going to take it over from them soon.
