Published by Guardian on Mon, 19 Dec 2011

GHANA'S former international and FIFA Ambassador, Tony Baffoe, and SuperSport presenter cum analyst, Robert Marawa, have been confirmed as the official master of ceremonies of the 2011 Glo-CAF Awards.Baffoe, a former footballer and son of a diplomat, grew up near the former West German capital, Bonn, and made a name for himself in the 1980s in the Bundesliga, becoming a real crowd favourite for FC Kln and Fortuna Dsseldorf. At present, he handles several functions for the African Football Confederation (CAF) as well FIFA. A member of FIFA and CAF Football Committees, Baffoe is also a FIFA ambassador for campaign against racism, an ambassador for SOS Children's Village as well as ambassador for Play Soccer Ghana. He and Marawa will no doubt add to the glitz and glamour of the awards.Meanwhile, telecommunications company, Globacom, has expressed shock at the sudden death of the Technical Director of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Sunday Bada. In a press statement in Lagos, the company described Bada's demise as 'a great loss not only to AFN but the entire country.'According to Globacom, Bada made the nation proud in his lifetime, winning medals in all major continental and international championships and games, including the Olympics.'He was the only Nigerian male athlete to win an IAAF World Championships medal, both indoor and outdoor, in addition to IAAF World Cup title. Nigeria has indeed lost an asset and a gem,' Globacom added.
