World Bank: You are a liar!

Published by Nigerian Compass on Mon, 19 Dec 2011

When will these lies stop' When will the so-called 'Western World' stop taking the rest of the world for a ride' When will this neo-colonialism stop' When will the Euro American stooges planted all over the continent of Africa and Asia stop deceiving their fellow citizens and stop being grossly unpatriotic' Hear this piece lifted from the Business page of The Nation last Monday, and I quote:'Nigeria's fourth fast growing economy, says World Bank'. As reported by Francis Ochigbo from Abuja, 'Nigeria's economy is the fourth fastest growing worldwide, a World Bank official, Richard Sandock, has said.'He listed other countries that recorded significant growth in their economies to include the BRIC countries-Brazil, Russia, India and China.'Speaking at the Seventh National Conference on Investment in Abuja at the weekend, Sandock said: 'Nigeria has slowly been coming up and has finally taken over from Russia and South Africa.' Of course, that is big lie!! Richard Sandock was further reported to have poured out more agonising statistics to support his praise of Nigeria, saying that in a few years time, this country we all know is standing on its head will even overtake South Africa in 2015. This is quite funny as our own Finance Minister donated to Nigeria by the same World Bank was talking of Nigeria being at par with South Africa, not in 2015, but in 10 years time! But why should all these hired foreigners continue to delude themselves and lead Nigeria to very suicidal delusion'And why must Imperialism continue to use all silly methods to run down countries like India and China' It is a very obvious fact that China is the second largest economy in the world today. And why should the US continue to delude itself with any bogus economic prosperity in the face of the dwindling dollar value in the world market [except in crazy Nigeria] and the huge half a trillion dollar it owes China' Yes. The United States owes China a whopping $500 billion as we speak. How can the World Bank be talking about China and India as upcoming economies when the whole of Europe has virtually collapsed' The concern of this writer is the annoying lies these imperialist agents continue to dish out especially concerning Nigeria's economic performance. The same agencies praised the economic woes which former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo unleashed on this country to high heavens. But we are not deceived, and we cannot be deceived any longer. How can any one tell us that a candle light, or generator-powered economy as we have in Nigeria is fast growing' How can a country where Lagos State cries that it harbours 1.2 million unemployed graduates be said to be fast growing' How can a country with over 65 million unemployed be considered growing' Growing in what' In kidnapping and vicious armed banditry'We have a banking system that changes its rules the way a notorious prostitute changes partners, and we talk of a fast growing economy. How can an economy grow when there is zero confidence in its monetary policies' We have a country that still spends at least a billion naira importing tooth picks (yes, igi itayin) not to talk of other more mundane elementary products and somebody with his head badly screwed on his neck is telling us that we have a 'fastest' growing economy. This deceit must stop. This self-serving patronising must stop. It is unfortunate that we do have as 'leaders' some people to whom a pink skin is god! But that does not apply to some of us who had pink skinned employees [from Britain] as our gardeners when we were in secondary school 50 something years ago!Nigeria is NOT a fast growing economy. Millions of our children of school-going age are out of school hawking sachet water on the streets. We are not a fast growing economy with a virtually non-existent power. We are not a fast growing economy when we have no single road network we can be proud of. No, Mr. Sandock. Nigeria is not a fast growing economy when more than three quarters of the entire population are groaning under the weight of want and deprivation.Right now, our only symbol of sovereignty, our national currency, is being turned into a tissue paper; thanks to some crooked World Bank/IMF conspiracy. And yet, someone is lying in public arena that we are fast growing. Yeah. Feast growing into economic oblivion. We cannot be said to be growing our economy when most manufacturing industries have fled the country to find a haven in Ghana. We do not manufacture, we do not produce, and even the oil which God gave to the Niger Delta region, we cannot refine. And yet, we keep devaluing our currency as if we have exports that would have taken advantage of calculated devaluation. It is the deceit and this flattery which are sweet to some people's ears that encourage the likes of bleary bimbo Blair to have the courage to be visiting our Head of State. It is only in Nigeria that a man who callously got his country to be dragged into the murderous mission in Iraq would be given a red carpet treatment. All manners of spent 'dignitaries' from Europe and North America are seen on our national television networks standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. How many of our past leaders are ever given even a third-rate reception abroad' We continue to make ourselves a laughing stock in the eyes of the civilised world by encouraging expired foreigners to continue to pollute our space. And we receive more lampooning by accepting and encouraging the cheap flattery thrown at us by representatives of international agencies. One last word: Would someone out there stop ambassadors from foreign countries lecturing us on what to do or how to run our affairs and which policies to adopt'Would a Nigerian ambassador to the United States wake up one day to publicly condemn President Barack Obama's (not Osama) foreign or domestic policies'abasaheed@yahoo.ca Texts only 0815 262 7847
