No more quarrel with Hodgson ' Osaze

Published by Punch on Tue, 20 Dec 2011

Osaze Odemwingie is ready to recapture his best West Brom form after putting aside his problems with manager Roy Hodgson. The Nigeria striker has struggled to live up to a fine first season with Albion and was recently embroiled in a public row with his boss over his injury record. But all was forgiven as Odemwingies excellent last-minute goal gave Hodgsons side victory at Blackburn on Saturday. The 30-year-old told the Express and Star, We didnt have much of a problem. He put out his frustrations about my absence but I took the positives out of it and was hoping to get over the injuries and be back.It wasnt easy but its over now and I know Im important to the team. It was a tough period.Sometimes critics are justified and not justified but if you give up then it means you are not strong - you are too weak to be a Premier League player.Saturdays winner at Ewood Park - his first goal since October - pushed the Baggies up to 13th in the table and Odemwingie was glad to have repaid the faith of Hodgson and his teammates. He added, When I was missing a few chances my teammates were encouraging me and when I scored the goal they all came to me and said you deserve it.If my teammates come to me and say I deserved it, its great because they saw how focused I was during the week.Odemwingie said he would have taken a penalty at Ewood Park if one had been awarded. Before the game they were asking who was going to take a penalty and I said I would take it.The confidence is there because of the 100 per cent focus I had throughout the week.I stood up and said I wanted to take the penalty and the gaffer said Okay, I dont want anyone fighting for the ball, go on Peter, take it.Im very happy about that.
