Beach soccer opens link for the youths -Rufai

FORMER Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has described the introduction of beach soccer in Nigeria as an open link for the youths to develop their talents.Speaking with the Tribunesports on Sunday moments after the final of the maiden edition of the Copa Lagos Beach Soccer held at the Eko Atlantic Beach, the 1994 USA World Cup team member said the final which saw many youths at the venue show that they are interested and many of them will want to showcase their talents if handled well by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).According to the former Stationery Stores FC safehand who applauded the performance of the Super Sand Eagles at the competition advised that the federation be up and doing in ensuring that the Beach Soccer is well handled, planned and organised.The former Go Ahead FC, Holland and Dragon FC, Benin Republic said, 'I have no doubt in my mind that the future of the Beach Soccer is bright in the country because it will serve as an open link for the youths who may want to showcase their talents in Beach Soccer football. It will lift the nation as we can see that many youth thronged this venue to watch the game and many who cannot do well in regular football will embrace beach soccer as a means of livelihood, he said.
