Kano NUJ elects new exco

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has elected new executive officers with Comrade Abdul Jalal Haruna of the Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV), emerging the new chairman. He defeated the former Chairman, Comrade Ismaila Ammai Mai Zare,Comrade Jalal Haruna scored 215 votes, Comrade Mai Zare got 135 votes, while Comrade Kofar Mata got 33 votes.Announcing the result after the election, Comrade Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi Arzai, said Comrade Adamu Abubakar Gammo of Kano State Radio Corporation got 211 votes against ARTV's Comrade Yusuf Wakili Yola's 166 to clinch the post of secretary of the union.Speaking further, he said that other contestants in the election were returned unopposed. These included the treasurer, Umar Abdu Kurmawa from the state ministry of Information; auditor. Comrade Jibrin Bawa Diso, from ARTV; Muhammad Sani Gwarzo; financial secretary, from the state ministry of information.
