Ebonyi compensates 2 communities over land acquisition

The Ebonyi State government has released funds for compensation to two communities whose land were acquired for industrial estates.The communities were Ishieke and Ntsulakpa in Ebonyi and Ohaukwu local government areas of the state.Governor Martin Elechi made the disclosure recently at the opening of the 2011 Ebonyi State Trade Fair at the Unity Square in Abakaliki.Represented by Chief Dave Umahi, the deputy governor, Elechi noted that the compensation was in line with the administration's bid to rapidly industrialise the state.'The land in both locations will be allocated to investors to build industries in the state, as it is expected that payment to land owners will be completed soon.'The initiative of the government in inaugurating the Umuoghara Quarry Enterprise zone and relocation of investors free of charge to the site, is another demonstration of government's seriousness in industrialising the state,' he said.
