Christmas chickens: Marketers make heavy bookings

Plan to buy at reasonable prices from farmers and sell high to consumersMarketers are making massive bookings of chickens, making payment but not collecting them so as to ensure that farmers would not be able to increase prices few days to Christmas. Abiodun Oyelekan, a farmer, owner of Farm Fresh said this is a strategy by the marketers to buy from farmers at reasonable prices, and then collect the chickens a day or two to Christmas or New Year and jerk up the prices.
