BPE scam: Obasanjo is a saint, says Senate

DESPITE being the Commander-in-Chief when some Federal Government properties were sold under questionable circumstances, the Senate yesterday exonerated former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the Bureau of Enterprises (BPE) scam, describing him as a saint.The Upper Chamber returned to the plenary after about 30 minutes closed-door meeting where sources said it was resolved that the only condition for the BPE recommendations to be adopted would be that nothing would be said about Obasanjo.The Senate, thereafter, adopted wholesale the 45 recommendations of the Senator Ahmed Lawan-led Ad hoc Committee on the Investigation of the Privatisation and Commercialisation Activities of the Bureau of Public Enterprises from 1999 to date within 10 minutes of resumption at the plenary.
