Nigeria maintains 43rd position on FIFA rankings

NIGERIA remains the 43rd best football country in the world, says world football body, FIFA.In FIFA's latest ranking released yesterday, Nigeria retains the position it held last month.Nigeria was ranked 43rd position in November with 627 points.Just recently, Nigeria, under new coach, Stephen Keshi, drew 0-0 with Botswana in Benin City and defeated Chipolopolo of Zambia 2-0 in Kaduna.Meanwhile, Cote d'voire remains the top African nation in the latest ranking as it also maintains the 16th position in the world while its neighbour, Ghana also stands at 29th position.Algeria also claimed the third position in Africa and 30th in the world while Egypt claimed the 31st position in the world as well as fourth in Africa.Senegal, Cameroun, South Africa, Tunisia, Sierra Leone and Morocco complete the top 10 in Africa.World Champion, Spain maintains its lead in the world rankings while Holland, Germany and Uruguay claim the second, third and fourth position respectively.Chairman Technical Committee, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Chris Green, however told Tribunesports yesterday that though the ranking is good, Nigeria will always attempt to win all its engagements.''The more matches we win, the higher the status of our teams, we shall bother more about winning than ranking,'he revealed.
