44m Nigerians can't read 'Group

Read and EarnAdults LiteracyProgramme has said that about 44 million Nigerians cannot read enough to fill out applications and educate their children.The Coordinator of the the Read and Earn Adult Literacy, Prince Abdulsalami Ladigbolu, made the statement while declaring open the graduating ceremony of students from the programme, at the Town Hall of Kwali Local Government area of Abuja.Ladigbolu said that most women lacked literacy skills needed to find and keep decent jobs, support their children's education and participate actively in civic life.While graduating more than 30 women of the area, the coordinator said that the objectives of the organisation was to create a system where women would be able to acquire appropriate levels of literacy, numerics, communication and manipulative skills.He further stated that his organisation was partnering with the appropriate government and non-governmental agencies in the establishment of structures, programmes and activities aimed at promoting and enhancing literacy among women in the society.
