NASCOM competitions start February

The Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee has fixed February 1, 2012 as the commencement of its competitions.The competitions, which the organisers says will herald the revival of academic sports in the country, will end on March 30.A statement from the committee say the 36 states and the FCT are expected to have organised inter-schools competitions in the six sports selected for the academic year to enable the committee to select, assemble and register the state academicals.The competitions will feature basketball, tennis, swimming, table tennis, track and field and football.The state academicals are advised to complete their registration with NASCOM by January 27, 2012.The format of the competitions, venues and dates will be determined by the Main Organizing Committee of each sport and made public in January.The military and para-military schools have been offered a special place within the championships to maximise the potential of students in their institutions.
