Card Reader Test: Exercise Good So Far In Lagos, Delta

The card reader test conducted by theIndependent National Electoral Commission(INEC) in Lagos State 'has been good so far',Channels Television's correspondent, SeunOkinbaloye reported on Saturday morning. Our correspondent in Ward 4, Azagba PrimarySchool, Ezenei, Asaba, Delta State capital, South-south Nigeria, also reported that the exercisewhich started exactly at 8am, saw a goodnumber of Delta residents coming out with theirPermanent Voter Cards (PVC) for the mockaccreditation exercise.According to our correspondent, it was a smoothride for some, with only a few minutes and theyare done, pointing that it took a little while forothers before their thumb print could berecognised by the card reader.He added that some other persons from otherwards came out to check if they could beaccredited but the card reader rejected the cardswith an 'OPC message which means Other PollingCards'.Some voters in an interview with ChannelsTelevision, lauded the exercise while otherspointed out a few challenges that should belooked into by INEC.In Lagos, south-west Nigeria, Seun Okinbaloyereported that the exercise took place at IkejaPrimary School in the GRA, on Fajuyi road, one ofthe 30 Polling Units in Onigbongbo Ward, IkejaLocal Government Area of the State.Okinbaloye noted that as people were trickling in,INEC officials used the opportunity to map outthe process, accompanied by State Securityoperatives.He also said the time frame for the testing of thecard readers ranged from about 5 seconds to aminute, adding that the issue of cloned cards hadnot been recorded, even as those whose cardshad been tested still hung around to observe theexercise.www.channelstv.com/2015/03/07/card-reader-test-exercise-good-so-far-in-lagos-delta/
