Eagles will vie for Africa's Best Player Award next year 'Keshi

SUPER Eagles' chief coach, Stephen Keshi, says he will ensure Nigeria players get nominated for Africa's Best Footballer Award from next year.Keshi told Tribunesports yesterday at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Accra, Ghana, venue of the 2011 Glo-CAF Awards, that he was touched by the snub of Nigerian players even in the initial list of 10 nominated players for the 2011 awards.''If we have former players like me in charge of the national team, the onus is on us to inspire the players to vie with the best,'' he said.He noted that the problem with the players has nothing with talent.''We have talented players both at home and abroad but the leadership is lacking and the zeal of the players to go the extra mile is not there,'' he said.Meanwhile, the Confederation of Africa Football, (CAF), is impressed with the sponsor, host and organisers of the gala night.''For the last five years, Nigeria's Cellular Telecommunications outfit, Globacom, have raised the bar of excellence with ceremonies in cities such as Abuja, Accra, Lome and Lagos,'' says Almamy Kabele Camara, CAF's second Vice President.''The atmosphere here is teasing as the event organisers, True Colours of South Africa, have conditioned the ceremony in such a way that befits the African continent,' he added.
