Shelve proposed oil subsidy removal, Jonathan advised

AN appeal has goneto PresidentGoodluck Jonathan to shelve the proposed removal of the petroleum subsidy to prevent.A member of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the chairman, Echo Petrol and Chemicals Marketing Ltd, Alhaji Ahmed Echoda, made the appeal in Lokoja, on Thursday, while speaking with newsmen.According to him, the removal would not only affect the ordinary Nigerians but ensure the death of many independent marketers who had been providing employment to Nigerians.He noted that government should look inward at blocking their inefficiency by bringing to book the 14 published major marketers who had been ripping off the subsidy.He added that the government would not be able to bring them to justice because of the benefits government and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) were gaining from them.Echoda argued that what the government needed to remove was the corruption in the system whose perpetrators were known to government.' Tell me, Otedola and Dangote are the major financiers of the PDP. Infact Dangote has just been awarded GCON, the highest honours in the land..is he not among the names published,'he queried.
