Cement factory 'll transform Ibese community

A community leader,public affairs analyst and former Special Adviser to the governor of Ogun State, Wole Elegbede, has hailed the founder of Dangote Cement, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, saying the establishment of Dangote Cement factory in Ibese, Ogun State, will ginger rapid economic development in the host community.Elegbede, who is an indigene of Yewaland (the host community) and a former editor of Sunday Champion Newspaper, said in an interview with our correspondent, that Ibese, Imasayi and other adjoining communities would cooperate fully with the management of the company towards the realisation of full economic potential of the area.Elegbede said he was amazed when it was recently disclosed that the factory would be the largest cement producing factory in Africa by the time it started production in few months time, with six million metric tonnes annually.He observed : 'This factory is a pride of our community and we thank Alhaji Aliko Dangote for the giant stride. It means that Alhaji Dangote believes in Nigeria because despite the downturn in the economy, he invests his money in Nigeria. And our people in Yewaland are the better for it. The factory will not only provide employment, it will boost other small-scale businesses in the area'Elegbede, who said the recent visit of Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to the factory was a welcome development, urging the government to focus more attention to the provision of infrastructure in the area like provision of good network of roads and electricity.He expressed confidence that the existing relationship between the company and the host communities will continue to produce fruitful results, adding that this relationship will be strengthened when the factory comes on steam.
