Group seeks establishment of higher institution in Iseyin

The Iseyin Council of Societies (ICS) in Oyo State, has reiterated the call for the establishment of a higher education learning in the area.The society's chairman, Comrade Shittu-Gbeko Ibrahim, who spoke at an annual quiz programme for students in primary and secondary schools in Iseyin, said that the area was in dire need of a higher institution that would take care of the students seeking admission into its institutions in the area.He said that it was unfortunate that the state government was trying to upgrade The Polytechnic, Ibadan to state university to the detriment of Iseyin which has no higher institution.The first, second and third positions went to Shahabab Nursery and Primary School, Zone C Public Primar School and Zone D Oluwole, Iseyin respectively, while the first, second and third positions in the secondary school category went to Aseyin High School, Iseyin District Grammar School 11, and Muslim Secondary Grammar School 1, respectively.Representative of the local government chairman at the event, Honourable Gbadegesin 'Toye Adedokun, who is also the secretary to the council, charged all stakeholders in education to keep up the pace on development of education in the community.Comrade G.O. Eyinade, sponsor of the programme and Comrade Abdul-Rafiu Saheed Odere, secretary to the organising committee, thanked the interim chairman of Iseyin, Mr Saheed Alaran and his committee members for all they have done and encouraged the local authorities to put in more efforts towards moving education forward.
