Lagos council polls: Tribunal dismisses ACN objections

The Lagos State Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Ikeja yesterday dismissed an application by the Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Adewale Adeniji of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), challenging its jurisdiction to hear the petition filed by Babajide Obanikoro of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The five-man tribunal, presided over by Justice Dolapo Akinsanya (rtd), in a ruling, also awarded a cost of N50,000 against Adeniji for wasting the time of the tribunal. The tribunal further ordered that the cost must be paid to the petitioner before December 28, the next adjourned date.
