YSFON to work with NFF

Newly elected President of Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria, Nasiru Gawuna, says Nigeria Football Federation has a vital role to play in the actualisation of YSFON programme, noting that the body will monitor invitation of Nigerian youth teams to international competitions.Gawuna said "It is unfortunate that YSFON did not maintain its position in Nigerian sports after doing so well to nurture players that brought glory to the nation."When you take a critical look at the statistics of Nigerian football for example, you will discover that it was when players were discovered through YSFON that Nigeria became a force in African football. We have to invite NFF to our programme and work together as it was done in the past. "We have also started the eradication of age cheats in all YSFON organised tournaments which was applied during the last Unity Cup in Abuja and very soon we will create a data base where information on players could be easily assessed."Gawuna added that it was necessary to check the activities of football academy in Nigeria with a view to achieve even development in youth football, promising to introduce athletics in the bodys calendar.He also said the administration of the body would be decentralised with the appointment of six zonal vice presidents.
