Dresses That Charm

Published by Guardian on Sat, 24 Dec 2011

IF YOU invest in anything stylish this season, then let it be a good party dress. Party dresses are glamorous and if chosen wisely can offer many styling options. There are many festive occasions for wearing a lovely dress and to be sure this season there will be office parties, formal dinners, cocktails, garden weddings, balls organized by Churches and clubs for their members as well as garden parties and informal get-togethers.Whatever the occasion, the dress never fails. For one, a woman in a dress standout in the sea of wrappers and lace up and down ensembles. She standout as adventurous and stylish, an independent spirit who is not a slave to the numerous aso-ebis wedding guests are forced to wear. Other women may stare but don't be fooled, many wish they had the freedom and comfort offered by a dress or skirt-suit.When choosing a party dress, consider your lifestyle. If you are not a party animal, then choose a dress that you can wear repeatedly. A simple sheath style or shift style Little Black dress (LBD), free of embellishment and loud details is in order here. Those who love the party circuit can also work with a basic LBD and add accents such as jewelry, a glittery shawl or bolero to dress it up.Party dresses are made from a variety of fabrics ' from silk, to sateen, Chantilly lace, taffeta, organza and chiffon. Women can select the fabrics that best suit their personality and lifestyle but comfort is a key word here. If you do not like too much exposure do not buy a dress made from a transparent fabric such as chiffon or the dress will rest in peace at the back of your closet.Beyond the LBD, there are many other colours to choose from ' flaming red, flamingo pink, gold, burnished gold, bronze, silver, white, yellow, sapphire blue, royal blue, emerald green, purple and more. The list is endless really; it is all up to personal preference. The woman who wears white at night is very bold and she is not afraid of attracting attention. The beautiful party dress can be charming but only if the right accessories are applied. If a dress has a high neck or an ornamented one or a neckline with details such as ruffles or pleats, resist the temptation to wear jewelry. Let the dress speak by itself.Save the jewelry for dresses with plunging necklines or those strapless numbers that call for support in the neckpiece department. Loud or intricate jewelry goes with stark simple dresses, while intricately designed dresses or fabrics do not need much by way of accessories.Long dresses demand high heels as do short dresses. However short, shifts can work wit ornamented flats and ballerinas or kitten heels.Accessories Fit For A CelebrationTomorrow, everyone will step out in their finery to worship and celebrate Christmas. While some may not go to Church, some will go to parties, hang out with friends and family, attend events or eat out.Whatever the occasion and however people choose to celebrate, style will be a major focus. Everyone can join in the fun, even if you wear your old jeans and tops or dresses you already have, you can update your looks with accessories.Bracelets ' metal or plastic; earrings ' pricey or cheap and cheerful; necklaces, handbags of various shapes and material, hats and more, accessories are the thing to buy this season.Merry Christmas!
