Nigerians Tasked On Security

BRIEFSNIGERIANS have been urged to play their own individual roles in the efforts to address security challenges facing the nation as government alone cannot solve all the problems without the cooperation of the citizenry.The Director General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), Abuja, Mr. Michael Fawole stated this while addressing participants at the 2011 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Workshop organised by the Centre for Christian and Muslim Youths from the 17 Southern states of the country taking place at the Sea School, Snake Island, Apapa, Lagos.The theme of the three-day event is Religious Tolerance and Peaceful Co-existence as Panacea for National Development.Oluku Day Holds TomorrowTHE yearly Oluku Day of Oluku Club, Kabba will hold tomorrow at the St. Augustine's College, Kabba, in Kogi State. Prof. Olu Obafemi, literary scholar, author, columnist, and current Director of Research at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru, will deliver the 2011 Guest Lecture on '12 Years of Democracy: Owe Land in Perspective'. The boy was later found dead and with his eyes removed.The victims are said to be those whose houses are 30 metres to the fence of the Ojo Military Cantonment, Lagos.APGA Raises Committee For Ojukwu's BurialFrom Mohammed Abubakar and Bridget Chiedu Onochie, AbujaTHE National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has set up a 14-man committee to oversee the burial arrangement of its national leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.The committee, according to the party's National Director of Publicity, Mr. Ifeanacho Ogujiefor in Abuja on Thursday, which would be inaugurated in Enugu on January 3, 2012, is expected to liaise with Ojukwu's family and the National Burial Committee for a befitting burial for the late Odumegwu-Ojukwu.Party members were urged to close ranks and build on the sound ideals, principles and fundamentals, which Odumegwu-Ojukwu stood and died for. They were also charged to pray for a peaceful repose of Igbo leader's soul.The committee members include Mr. Alfred Nwosu, Chairman and Barrister Ifeanyi Mbaeri, Secretary. Others are Jolly Benjamin Ngbor, Evangelist Chinyere Okeke, Alhaji Ibrahim Garuba Carefore, Mr. Tondo Joseph, Comrade Ferguson Okpara and Barrister Morgan Anyalechi.Also to serve on the committee are the chairmen of the party from all the Southeast states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.Shoprite Opens Fourth Store In NigeriaWITH the opening of Ikeja City Mall in Lagos, Shoprite has opened its fourth in Nigeria. Developed by Westport Properties with Actis and Rand Merchant Bank as equity partners, construction of this multi-million dollar project took place over a period of two years. There are 94 outlets.The outlets feature the latest designs and includes an ultra modern bakery, fresh fish department, hot food section and a specialized deli offering a wide range of cheese, cold meats, and salads.
