Aboderin seeks support for physically challenged

The Chairman, Punch Nigeria Limited, Mr. Wale Aboderin, has called on Nigerians to support the physically challenged in the society in order to realise their dreams.Aboderin made the call in Lagos during a concert and fund-raiser organised by two non-profit organisationsChildrens Developmental Centre and Golden Hearts Touching Lives Initiatives, for children with disabilities.In his speech, Aboderin said, The admirable thing about the physically challenged in the society is that they have refused to be hindered by their circumstances and have worked at developing their potential despite all odds.At the event, the founder and Service Director, CDC, Mrs. Yinka Akindayomi, said physical disability was still a peculiar difficulty in Nigeria.She said, In advanced countries, disabled people can live very comfortably but that it is not the case in Nigeria.A parent to one of the children, Mr. Charles Akindayomi, said the organisation was working on establishing a living and learning centre for children with disabilities.He added that the children would live in the centre to develop themselves through inventions, which they could sell to consumers to earn an income.Highlights of the event, tagged Normal is Boring, were choreography, singing, dancing, comedy and fashion show.The musical couple, Tunde and Wunmi Obe and the Rapture Band, sang to the admiration of the children, while popular comedian, Jedi, put smiles on their faces with his jokes.Similarly, the little children, including those with physical challenges, exhibited their talents to entertain the audience.left with pronouncing a sentence on January 19, which is expected to be a life sentence according to US lawyers.Specifically he is now asking the judge for a male, Muslim attorney to help him understand legal issues surrounding his Jan. 19 sentence and even suggested a Muslim lawyer he met through the Federal Defender Office- Dearborn-based Elsayed Mostafa.I find there is more understanding when the person is of the same religion, Abdulmutallab said.In order to determine his new request, the US Judge has set a hearing for next week January 6.
