The Unity God Wants

THE Lord wants unity in His Church, from His Church, from Christians and from everybody. God wants unity. For the Scriptures say in Psalm 133:1: 'How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to live (dwell) together in unity.' 1Cor. 1:10 says: 'I beseech you' that there be no divisions among you, but' be perfectly joined together in the same mind.' 2Cor. 13:11 says: 'Be ye of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you.' And Philippians 1:27 says, 'Stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together.'God hates disunity, and this is what He thinks of disunity. Proverbs 6:16-19 says: 'These doth the Lord hate: (They) are an abomination unto Him: he that soweth discord among brethren. James 3:14, 15 says: 'But if ye have' strife in your hearts, glory not' This descends not from above but is devilish.'You should be in unity with fellow workers. 'Be at peace among yourselves.' (1 Thess. 5:13) Have love and concern for one another; be kind, gentle and courteous to one another. Avoid offending people, be careful of what you say, control your temper; be slow to speak. The Bible says in Proverbs 14:29: 'He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding.' Humbly discuss disagreements with elders for Timothy 5:1 has this to say: 'Rebuke not an elder, but treat him as a father.'The causes of disunity are: pride and lust; not walking in the spirit; ill feelings and hatred; envy and jealousy favouritism and partiality; self-exaltation and desire for leadership; bitterness; arguing over minor doctrines and theorising; anger and quick temper; inability to stop arguing etc.Disunity results in not being able to work together. It destroys God's work and brings longstanding divisions, backbiting and rumour-mongering. It also opens the door to every kind of evil.How to deal with disunity: 'Warn them that they are unruly.' (1 Thess 5:14) Proverbs 25:9 says: 'Debate the cause with thy neighbour himself, and disclose not a secret to another.' When there is a division in the work, let pastors and elders settle the disputes.
