A former Minister of Finance and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, he was twice a Presidential aspirant, on the platforms of both the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Ibrahim Babangida years and the joint ticket of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and the All Peoples Party (APP). Falae, in this interview with BABATOPE OKEOWO, dissected the 2012 appropriation budget presented by President Goodluck Jonathan, the cashless economy being introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the planned withdrawal of oil subsidy and how mutual distrust and self-centredness by leading opposition figures killed the chances of wresting power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the last general elections.
