No democracy without opposition ' Imoke

Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke insists that no democracy can survive without opposition.Imoke stated this through his Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Omini Oden, when a socio-political group, Central Identity Youths Forum, paid him a visit in Calabar on Saturday.Imoke said, We need opposition as a government to succeed, provided it is played according to the rules of the game, provided it is not opposition of the pockets, mischief and calumny.Ahead of the 2012 governorship election in the state, the governor appealed to the opposition to focus on issue-based politics rather than resorting to character assassination.Oden said Imoke was not disturbed that former Nigerian Ambassador to Mali, Chief Soni Abang, is contesting the PDP primary slated for January 23, 2012 with him.Oden added, Within this period, Imoke has created rural access roads to various communities across the state, provided electricity and water among other social infrastructure in various places.
