AYC: Awoniyi, 3 others hit by injuries

NO fewer than four members of the Flying Eagles stars including star striker Taiwo Awoniyi are now on the treatment table after a bruising African Youth Championship group A clash against Congo on Wednesday.The Manu Garba-piloted side won the encounter 4-1 to grab the semi-final ticket of the biennial championship as well as the ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup scheduled to hold later in the year.The tournament's leading scorer with three goals Awoniyi is nursing a right knee complaint and has been excused from training, while Ifeanyi Ifeanyi suffered a head injury which needed three stitches.Bernard Bulbwa is nursing a shoulder injury and Ifeanyi Matthew, who has scored twice at Senegal 2015, has a thigh problem.'They could all be available for the last group match against Cote d'Ivoire on Saturday but we will take some precautions before then,' said Flying Eagles doctor Ozi Salami.First-choice goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo will miss Saturday's showdown against Cote d'Ivoire after he was sent off for a professional foul against Congo on Wednesday.However, he is expected to return to action for the semi-final on Wednesday in Dakar.
