Perpetrators have no respect for human lives - Ogoni professionals

THE Council ofOgoni Professionals (COP International, USA), the umbrella body of all Ogoni professionals in the United States of America also condemned 'in the strongest terms the bombings of churches and killings of Christians on Christmas Day,' in Nigeria.But the group of US-based Nigerian professionals added it was a sad thing that the country cannot protect the lives and properties of its citizens, and feared that a retaliatory attack on Muslims in the Southern part of the country should be averted by the Federal Government by overhauling 'its security apparatus immediately and tackle this Boko Haram threat decisively.'According to the Council of Ogoni professionals 'it is sad that Nigeria has failed in its primary responsibility to protect lives and properties of its citizens. The mere fact that the law abiding cannot go about exercising their fundamental right to religious freedom without fear of being killed is a national disgrace,'They added that 'this is a pointer that Nigeria is gradually gliding into a state of anarchy and may eventually become a failed state if this precarious national security situation is not checked.'In their statement on Monday the US-based professionals called the attacks 'dastardly and cowardly bombings of Churches,' adding that they are clear demonstration that 'Boko Haram Islamic militants have no value and respect for human lives.
