A Bauchi-based Non-GovernmentOrganisation (NGO), Fahimta Women and Youths Development Initiative (FAWOYDI), has donated a block of four classrooms to Kaisuwa Dole Community in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The organisation constructed the block and latrines and provided furniture for Kaisuwa Dole Community Primary School with the support of the TY Danjuma Foundation.Speaking at the inauguration of the block of classrooms, FAWOYDI president, Hajiya Maryam Garba, said the NGO constructed the building on the realisation that the community lacked any standard infrastructure for quality learning. She said that before the intervention in the community by the NGO, the pupils were learning on bare floor in a zinc class constrcuted by FAWOYDI.Represented by the organisation's Manager, Administartion and Finance, Hajiya Aishatu Awwal Usman, Hajiya Garba said that FAWOYDI's intevention in the community had greatly impacted on the school enrolment as "the school had only 30 pupils with one volunteer teacher, but now the enrolment has increased to 129 pupils with four qualified teachers."She informed that the project was facilitated as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the TY Danjuma Foundation on March 21, 2010, for a grant assistance of N15 million to build the block and another at Fulataran community in Darazo Local Government Area of the state. In his address, the Caretaker Chairman of Gamawa Local Government Area, Alhaji Umar Yakubau Udubo, thanked FAWOYDI for its intervention in the education sector of the local government area, promising that the council would promptly pay its counterpart funding to facilitate the organisation's intervention in other sectors in the area. While stating that Gamawa council was committed to providing quality education for the people of the area, the caretaker chairman called on parents and guidance in Kaisuwa Dole community to enrol their children and wards in the school.
