Ubulu communities decry power outage for 3 years

UBULU communities in AniochaSouth Local Government Area of Delta State have cried out over lack of electricity supply by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), for more than three years.A public affairs analyst from the area, Mr. Charles Soeze, said no fewer than 10 communities of Ubulu-Uku, Ubulu-Unor, Ubulu-Okiti, Aniagbala, Ashama, Anifekide, Egbuduaka, Adonte, Ewulu, among other towns, had been in darkness because of selfish interest of a politician who allegedly colluded with some PHCN officials to shortchange the people.His words: 'Investigation revealed that a politician within the Delta North for his selfish interest, allegedly bridged the power supply at Otulu town, Delta North (Anioma) in order to serve his company properly or for the execution of contract awarded to him without considering the sufferings of the people of Ubulu communities, and also denying the Federal Government of revenue.'As a result, the small businesses in the community have all grounded and the suffering of the masses residing here continued unabated. In this connection, worsening the unemployment situation and the people of the community continue to live in abject poverty.'To those who could afford generators, the environment is already polluted because of the use of generators that fume twenty-four hours a day. To this end therefore, the health of the people in the community is deteriorating tremendously.'He urged the PHCN, Delta State government, the Delta State House of Assembly, and other relevant agencies, to look into the issue.
