Okorocha splashes N5m on African champions, Heartland Flickers

GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State at the weekend splashed N5 million on Heartland Hockey Flickers, who won African Club Championship recently in Zambia.Receiving the victorious African champions at Government House, Owerri, Okorocha commended the team and officials for their feat, saying their achievement deserved government's recognition.'We are going to celebrate excellence,' he said. 'In the past, men who do not do the state proud were celebrated, but in this government only people who do good will be celebrated. So you have made us proud. Rescue mission will rescue all parts of our economy and Imo must be better.I will give you N5 million and you sort it out yourselves.'Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Kenneth Emelue, had highlighted the achievements of the team in Zambia, noting that the team braved all odds to retain the title it won last year in Ghana.
