ERSTWHILE Governor of Kwara State Bukola Saraki hascondemned the Christmas day bomb-blasts at the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, nearSuleja, Niger State.Also, The Muslim Congress (TMC) has condemned the spate of bombings in parts of the country onChristmas day.The Islamic organisation made the condemnation in a statement by its President, Ustadh Luqman AbdurRaheem, a copy of which was made availableto the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Lagos.Speaking with journalists at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja,on Sunday, Senator Sarakisaid Nigerians must find asolution tothe recurring Boko Haram militancy problem.His words: 'First, we have to condole with the families that lost their members in the unfortunate incident; it is sad on a day like this when people are in a celebratory mood. I heard it is in a church.'It is high timeNigerians began to look at the menace of the Boko Haram group as a Nigerian problem and not Jonathan Goodluck'sproblem. I appeal to everybody that we must put an end to this.'It is a collective challenge across all party lines, across other lines; whether you are a politician or not, this is affecting Nigeria'.Saraki said the incident was another wake-up call forthe country, pointing outthat the militant sect had poseda serious threat tothe country and must be tackled seriously.He stressed: 'I think as a country, honestly, we have a very serious problem in our hands. All of us, whether former leaders, current leaders or new generation leaders, must see it as a national problem.'This is so because it is what we give to the new generation that they will inherit; it is indeed very sad'.The TMC wrote: 'These endemic killings can best be described as inhuman, wicked, condemnable and totally unacceptable in civilised societies.'The action is even more repulsive during the periods of celebration.'This criminal incident has once again challenged the Federal Government to be more vigilant, responsive and alive to its responsibility of providing securityto lives and property'.AbdurRaheem stressed that the position of the TMCwas that whatever motivated the Boko Haram sect to start its bombing campaign in the country had no place ortheological justification in Islam.He added: 'The solution to whatever disagreement, definitely, is not killing and bombing but dialogue and tolerance.'The Congress again appeals to all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious and ideological inclinations, to cooperate with the Federal Government and security agencies to nip the insanity of the Boko Haram sect in the bud by reporting suspicious moves and antics.'Bombs do not respect imams, pastors, Muslims and non-Muslims while dangerous weapons portend doom for all'.
