Imoke tasks parties on 'vibrant opposition

WITH many aspirants jostling for the Leopard Road Government House next year, Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke, has stated that no democracy survived without vibrant opposition parties.Imoke stated this through his Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary, Omini Oden, when a socio-political group, Central Identity Youths Forum (CIYF), yesterday paid him a courtesy call in his office.He said: 'We need opposition as a government to succeed, provided it is played according to the rules of the game, provided it is not opposition of the pockets, mischief and calumny'.Contrary to speculations, Oden said Imoke was not upset that his friend and former Nigerian Ambassador to Mali, Soni Abang, was running in the upcoming PDP primaries slated for January 23, 2012.
