Abia lawmakers score selves high

SPEAKER of the Abia State House of Assembly, Ude Chukwu, has scored the Assembly high over its performance thus far.Chukwu told journalists in Umuahia at the weekend that the all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 24-member House that was proclaimed on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, had within days of its inauguration 'swung into action and established its reputation and commitment as a high-performing and service-oriented institution'.He disclosed that the members have so far held 45 plenary sessions, received 15 Bills, out of which six were passed into law.Four motions were also entertained and passed in addition to 40 resolutions passed.Chukwu listed the passed Bills to include the State Sports Endowment Fund, Local Government Supplementary Appropriation Law 2011; StateSupplementary Appropriation Law 2011; State Multi-Door Court House Law 2011; State Roads Maintenance Agency Law 2011; and the State Local Government Second Supplementary Appropriation Law For theLocal Government Second Supplementary Bye-Law 2011.
