Ahmed emerges Sokoto ANPP's guber candidate

A FORMER employee of Union Bank, Alhaji Yusha'u Muhammed Ahmed, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) in the March 2012 election in Sokoto State.He was elected through Option-A4 with 469 delegates queuing up for him while his opponents and former Water Resources Commissioner, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Yabo, had three delegates. Sixty-two delegates were undecided.Chairperson of the ANPP gubernatorial primary election committee, Hajiya Fatima Muhammed, declared Ahmed as winner.Speaking with journalists after his victory, Ahmed described the primary as 'very unique, very open and very fair'.He said it showed the capacity of the ANPP to conduct free and fair election without any external force or external influence.He said it was also a clear signal to the ruling PDP that the ANPP had what it takes to satisfy the people's yearnings for positive change.
