Regulatory agencies lack equipment to monitor oil disaster, says Saraki

The Senate Committee on the Environment and Ecology is concerned about the inadequacies of agencies meant to monitor oil disasters in the country.Chairman of the committee and immediate past governor of Kwara state, Senator Bukola Saraki who made this known in a chat with newsmen expressed dismay that most of the agencies lack the basic equipment needed to monitor activities in the oil sector.Saraki spoke against the backdrop of the recent oil spill in the Bonga field operated by Shell oil company and said his committee would son pay a visit to the site of the spillage to verify claims by Shell on its clean up activities.
