Africa Tourism Development Services promotes Africa at Orlando Attraction Trade Fair

The Africa Tourism Development package,a six day event that boasted over 80 education seminars with programme targeting amusement park and attractions, family entertainment centers, museum and science centers, zoos and aquariums, and water parks development was held in Orlando, Florida, also known as the tourism capital of the world.With panelists such as Jim Reid Anderson (CEO, Six Flags Corporation), John Lawn (VP Operations, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company), Joel Manby (CEO, Herschend Family Entertainment), Kim Schaefer (CEO, Great Wolf Resorts) and Ron Morrison (CEO, The Docentus Group), it is no wonder that numerous participants representing various African governments were in attendance. West Africa's representation comprised Nigeria and Ghana with over 30 representatives, with the goal of theme park.Amongst the 25,000 attendees to the 2011 International Amusement and Attractions fair comprising exhibitors, developers, investors, consultants and buyers, Nigeria's only representative, Ms. Busola Ogundele, marketed Ogun State impressively and demonstrated exactly why it is known as the Gateway State, as she discussed Ogun state's potentials and readiness for tourism and theme park development.The Africa Tourism Development package to the fair saw a paradigm shift, with tourism developers paying attention to the untapped Africa tourism market. Carol Olubufunmi of ATD and Philip Hayes of Proslide Technology Inc. noted that Africa, with a similar tropical weather as that of Florida, could be another theme park destination, and enjoy all- year patronage. Water parks are embraced as Orlando. New technologies in indoor and outdoor water parks were introduced by several North America countries to the fair.The event teed off with an International Charity Golf Tournament where CEOS, investors and enthusiasts all in the tourism industry networking and supporting a great cause. As the convention progressed, earlier registered participants were given an inner look behind the scenes of world renown family attractions such as Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Legoland and BuschGardens.
