Zumbul community calls for LG's intervention on road, water supply

THE District Head of Zumbul in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Alhaji Ya'u Umar Muhammed, has called on the local government to assist the people of the area in the provision of roads, water supply and other social infrastructure to make life meaningful for the people in the area.Speaking recently at an interface meeting between the community and the local government, organised by a non-government organisation, Women Development Association for Self Sustenance (WODASS) in conjuction with RTI/LEAD at Zumbul, the district head said the people of the community were always ready to cooperation with the local government where necessary to bring the much-expected dividends of democracy to the people.He, however, called on his people to ensure peaceful co-existence among them, noting that without peace there could not be any meaningful development in any society.Speaking at the meeting, the Programme Coordinator of WODASS, Mrs Susanna Zagi, noted that the meeting was organised to fast track the development of the community, noting that Dass LGA, RTI/LEAD, WODASS and the Zumbul community were partners in progress.Represented on the occasion by the NGO's Manager, Administration and Finance, Hajiya Suwaiba Lawal, Mrs Zagi, expressed the hope that the agreement reached at the interface would be implemented by all stakeholders, promising that WODASS would continue to monitor the implementation of the action plan as enumerated at the interface in order to ensure that it went according to plan.Responding to issues raised during the interface meeting, the deputy chairman of the local government, Alhaji Yakubu Aliyu, expressed delight with the frank manner the people came out to express their mind to the local government officials present on the occasion.
