Nasarawa plans N1.34bn Intravenous plant

NASARAWA state Government has concluded plans to build a N1.34 billion Intravenous Infusion project to produce seven fast selling pharmaceutical products to boost the economic and commercial viability of the state.The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nasarawa Investment and Property Development Company NIPDC, Mr. Daniel Ajegena said this in Abuja recently that when he visited the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission to seek cooperation and expert advise on the attracting investors.He said: 'We have at present completed feasibility studies for the establishment of an intravenous infusion project, estimated to cost N1.34 billion, because the proposed project is commercially and economically viable, as there are abundantmarkets for the products both within and outside the country.'While stating that an 8.05-hectare parcel of land had been set aside for the project with water already provided Ajegena said that the plant when completed would produce seven different intravenous products for the market. These are Glucose intravenous 2.5 per cent and five per cent solution (BP), sodium chloride 0.9 per cent (BP), Sodium chloride and glucose intravenous 4.3 per cent, Lactated potassium in saline 1.2 (BP), Lactated pentoel solution acetate and Dextrose 50 per cent solution (BP). 'The Executive Secretary of NIPC, Mr. Mustapha Bello challenged the officials from the state to use the abundant potentials available in the state because of its proximity to the Federal Capital. He said, 'the opportunities that the state has presently because of its shared boundary with Abuja can be used to develop an industrial estate of a sort that would be beneficial to the state.'Bello assured them of the commitment of the commission to work with the state and provided all the assistance that was required to pursue the investment needs and initiatives of the state. He also said that the transformation taking place in Lagos was not magic, but using the right approach and taking advantage of the opportunities as they present themselves.
