Pinnick urges careful planning of 2012 season

CHAIRMAN of Delta State Sports Commission, Amaju Pinnick, yesterday advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to organise the 2012 league calendar to suit clubs.Pinnick, who accused the NFF of lacking focus, said that poor administration of football by the body was militating against the growth of the game in the country. He urged the NFF to consider the clubs and other leagues across the world, especially in England and Spain, in formulating policies and drawing up its calendar.Healso identified poor remuneration for players in the nation's league, frequent and premature 'export' of players as other factors affecting the development of football in the country.He told the News Agency of Nigeria: 'The leadership of the NFF must show that it understands the game and is abreast with global trends, otherwise the people there now should give way for those who know what should be done and are prepared to do it.'It is a shame that Nigeria, which was a leader in African sports and enjoyed world reckoning, has taken the back stage due to ineptitude of our administrators. It is bad for football and even worse for other sports.
