C' River seeks N600m education fund

The Cross River State Government has sent a request to the state House of Assembly for the withdrawal of N600m from the Economic Development Fund to intervene in certain critical areas of education.The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Patrick Ugbe, said this in Calabar at the end of the 40th session of the weekly state executive council meeting.He said the money would enable the government to intervene in education in order to address the critical areas in that sector.According to Ugbe, the economic development fund currently has N5.6bn which is earmarked for the establishment of a new polytechnic at Ugep, building of a new auditorium at Cross River State University of Technology main campus and also the building of three model secondary schools to be located in each senatorial district.
