Zamfara presents 3-year budget

Zamfara State governor, AlhajiAbdul'aziz Yari, has presented a three-year (2012-2014) cumulative budget of N376,940,990,881 to the state House of Assembly.Presenting the budget tagged, 'Budget of Revival,' before the assembly on Wednesday, he said the government, in collaboration with the United Kingdom Department for International Development, under the state Partnership for Accountability Programme, resolved to shift from the single-year budgeting to the multi-year budgeting system.He maintained that the new development was aimed at allowing the government to project its three-year financial estimates of revenues and expenditures as a rolling plan.According to the three-year cumulative budget, which was broken down into N120,810,192 for 2012, while N125, 581,574,960 and N130,549,223,920 are estimates for 2013 and 2014 respectively.Yari further explained that the base of the three-year cumulative budget remained the 2012 budget of N120,810,192, saying the 2012 fiscal year had the N75,540,192,000 and 45.27 as revenues projected for recurrent and capital budget.The 2012 proposed budget, according to the governor, has an expenditure outlay of N42,304,192 and N78,506,000 for recurrent and capital respectively.'When we set out on the electoral campaign to all nooks and crannies of the state, I was exposed to myriad of development challenges that do not only require huge resources but also a lot of determination and robust planning. we have already started taking these steps notwithstanding the staggering debt inherited by our administration, an over- bloated workforce, a litany of uncompleted projects and a host of challenges,' he said.
