Kwara distributes N9 million to disaster victims

Kwara State government hasdistributed N9 million to the victims of various disasters which happened in the state in the last two months as a measure to cushion the effects of the situation on the people.Speaking with journalists in Ilorin while distributing the money to the first batch of the victims, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Emergency and Relief Service, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, said the effort was part of the present administration's commitment to sustain peace and development.Alhaji Abdulahi, who also said that the gesture was to bring succour to the lives of the affected victims through the donation of the government widow's mite to them, added that, the donation of N4 million to the 55 victims of fire disasters was to assist them for the loss of their properties during the inferno that gutted the various houses.He said N5 million was also extended to those that experienced flood disasters in the state, adding that the government also distributed relief materials like cement, nails, roofing-sheets, asbestos, among others.Abdullahi, who called on the people of the state to continue to support the government in the task of building a virile state, said that such step would go a long way to move the state forward.He also appealed to the people to guard against all acts capable of leading to any form of disaster in the state.Responding on behalf of the victims, Mr.Afolabi Raheem, commended the state government for the gesture, and promised to continue to support the government in its efforts at taking the state into a greater heights.
