No arrest made as yet ' Police

The Police headquarters in Abuja yesterday said no one has been arrested in connection with the Christmas Day explosions in Madalla and Jos, contrary to earlier reports that said arrests were made.'Investigation has commenced into the blast. Police investigators have commenced getting together all available facts on the incidences and the report will be made public,' deputy Force public relations officer CSP Yemi Ajayi told Daily Trust.According to news reports quoting residents and relief authorities, the bombings at Saint Theresa's Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State, and in Jos, Plateau State, left at least 29 people dead, among them three policemen.Ajayi said yesterday that the Force Headquarters would not give any casualty figures until investigations were concluded.Meanwhile the search for the remains of the people killed in the blast at Madalla is continuing.A member of the church said dismembered human parts were still being found around the blast scene, two days after the incident.He said a human head and a severed hand were recovered at nearby buildings a day after the blast while more decomposing parts were found yesterday.He said documents including books, vehicle particulars and clothing belonging to the victims have been obtained from the scene and kept under the care of the church. They will be examined to find out victims who could not be traced, he added.For its part, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command said safety measures were put in place before the Christmas and there were no incidences of attack in the territory during the period.Moshood Jimoh, spokesman for the FCT police, said there was no security threat in Abuja and residents have not complained of any crime incidence.
