Immortalise Sunday Bada 'Obajimi tells Kogi Govt

A board member of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Dr (Mrs) Gloria Obajimi has urged Kogi State to immortalise Sunday Bada, a Sydney 2000 Olympics silver medallist.The late Bada, who also participated at Barcelona '92 and Atlanta '96 Olympic Games has done so much for the country and deserves the honour, reasons Obajimi.The late international quartermiler, Bada, died on December 12 in Lagos "Bada was an ambassador of youths and the stadium in Kogi State which is near completion I think should be named Sunday Bada Stadium. "We have Teslim Balogun Stadium here in Lagos, in Port Harcourt, we have Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium and there are other stadia named after people who have brought honour to this country through sports.So, we have to immortalise Sunday Bada for his invaluable contribution to sports too. "Again, the National Sports Commission is organising U-18 athletics championships among zones and it will not be out of place if this competition is named after Sunday Bada," explained Obajimi, who is also the President of the Nigeria Association of Women In Sports.
