Ese-Odo LG donates N10m empowerment materials to youth, women groups

With a view toimproving the living standard of the people in the riverine area of Ondo state, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the state has distributed empowerment materials worth N10 million to various youth and women groups in the area.Apart from this, the council also donated 20 wheelchairs, 40 crushes to the physically challenged in the communities across the area.In an attempt to improve the economic base of the people of the local government, cash, raging from N50,000 the above were given to hundreds of individuals to boost their businesessOther items distributed by the council were: motorbikes, weaving machines, generators, clippers and laptops to indigenes of the council in law school.Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the council, Hon. Akinwumi Sowore, said the empowerment programme was one of the cardinal objectives of the Mimiko's led administration put in place to reduce the level of unemployment and poverty in the society.He emphasised that the programme would assist the people economically as it will ease their means of lively hood.The council boss said it was the determination of the state government to ensure that the people in the grassroots particularly in the riverine area of the state benefit from good governance of the state.He said the present administration in the local government was poised to impact positively on the lives of the people in the area by executing projects and programmes that would bring development to their door steps.He said the programme would be a continuous exercise and appealed to those that had not benefitted to exercise patience as the programme would be made to cover the entire local government area.The chairman, however, appealed to the people in the area to be peace loving and avoid any act that could jeopardise the existing peace in the area.
